Technology Businesses Need Networks

CVG's own Jim Lansing spoke with Joanne DiMaggio recently.

The Charlottesville Venture Group is a membership organization that serves people that are innovative, growth-minded and entrepreneurial. “CVG is the only group created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs,” said Lansing.

Access to mentors and advisors is another essential ingredient for success. “Peer networks are particularly critical,” Lansing said. “The existing core of successful or operating technology-based companies provide at least a bit of assistance to the new entrepreneur, so the more peers you have in a particular industry, the more innovative we become.”

[VPTC Chair Gary]Henry agreed. “It’s helpful to technology companies when their leaders and team members can get together with their peers—whether it’s in a formal conference environment [such as the Business Forum IX]or a casual, after work social scene—to have conversations about where their businesses are going".
